SG500 - The MAC address is not valid. You must set it now!

Hi everyone,

I have a SG500-52 switch that I inadvertently shut off power to the other day.  When I restored power, the switch did not boot correctly so I connected to the console port.  On boot, the switch displayed the following message:

The MAC address is not valid. You must set it now!

Not thinking anything of it, I entered a completely made-up MAC address (10:10:10:10:10:10).  The switch then prompted for a hardware revision and a serial number, all of which it seemingly stored in flash.

After providing the information, the switch booted into an operational mode and appears to be working correctly.

However, I would like to reset the MAC address of the switch to the given address printed on the back sticker.  Additionally, I am sure I did not enter the hardware revision correctly.

My questions:

1.  What is the procedure to set the flash values for the MAC address, hardware revision, and serial number?

2.  Is there a guide with instructions on how to enter the values (specifically for the hardware revision and serial number) correctly?

Thanks!

I think it would be best if you could call our support line and open a support ticket, so we can do a WebEx remote session and check the configuration.
