Warning %STP-W-PORTSTATUS: gi1: STP status Forwarding

In my SG200-50 switch, there are a lot of warning message about STP status Forwarding.  Warning messages shown as below when I use a new SG200-18 switch with only one PC connected.  Please advice and many thanks in advance.

Hi Eddie, this log message is indicative of the link bouncing (periodically losing connectivity). If your computer has no degraded performance then it looks like a cosmetic informational message. If your computer is actually consistently dropping connectivity then there is a wire issue of some sort.

Possible causes for this error message to scroll can be from;

Link negotiation for speed or duplex

Computer NIC has a software issue

Switch port has a defect

Wire between computer and switch is defective

Software issue on the switch alarming false link flap

Hello there,

It is pretty obvious that the ports are flapping and the issue needs further investigation,

but does anybody know what the numbers in the brackets indicate (in this case 188, 83, 84)?

This avoids logging the exact same message over and over, resulting in a log full of the same repeated entry.

If a log entry is repeated N times, it is logged once and "aggregated (N)" is added to the end.

So to answer the question, the number in parentheses is the repetition count.

I think they should use "message repeats N times", but that choice is the privilege of whoever writes the English language version of the software. :P

I just figured out that the <N> count indicates the type of syslog message codes.

Similar incidents present similar <N> counts, that is %STP logs follow a <188> code, %TCP drops follow a <148> code and so forth.

will this behaviour stops if i disable the STP of the switch? Because in my case it's happening for one or two ports...
