Hello forum
Hoping somebody can guide me as to whether or not there is somewhere I can report an issue I have discovered with stacking on the new Cisco Business 350 Series Switches (Cisco CBS350-24XS). I believe it to be a bug or that the product sheet is incorrect.
Basically I have 4 members stacked in native mode, in a ring topology. I am running firmware 3.2.1.1
Unit 1 (Active) > Unit 2 (Standby) > Unit 3 > Unit 4 [Unit 4 links back to Unit 1]
I have been testing what happens when the active unit fails. Unfortunately it seems that when the standby takes over all network ports in the stack go down, rough explanation of what happens is as follows (taken from switch log - happy to post the whole log if need be)
03-Apr-2023 15:26:44 :%CSCDLAG-W-DOWN: Stack port te23 operational status is Down
03-Apr-2023 15:26:46 :%Stack-I-STCK-CTRL-SWTCHOVR: active switchover: unit 2 is now active.
03-Apr-2023 15:26:46 :%MLDP-W-ABORT: Connection to Unit 1 is aborted due to Stack Management notification.
03-Apr-2023 15:26:55 :%MLDP-I-CONTROLLER: Switching to the active mode.
03-Apr-2023 15:58:51 :%LINK-I-Up: te1/0/1
03-Apr-2023 15:58:51 :%LINK-W-Down: te1/0/1
This happens for all ports on all remaining stack members, so the network goes down for about 30 seconds while the standby unit takes over. My servers are configured to have 1 connection to each switch so that in the event a stack member goes down they can still communicate. However this drop of connecivity of all ports while it switches over is making this setup pointless. I have tried to change the switch to only contain 2 members (Active/Standby) but it has made no difference)
This isn't something that the predecessor (SG350XG-24F) does so I'm pretty sure it's not a misconfiguration, as it's not exactly like the stacking config is really that complicated?
I don't have a support contract but then I purchased the switches on the basis that they stack and can stay online if a member fails. So I would have thought I should get some level of support from Cisco since it's still a lot of money to spend.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Phil
