12.1(22)EA8a SSH capable on a 2940-8TT-S

I'm unable to find a configuration guide for 12.1(22)EA8a. Currently we have it running on a Cisco WS-C2940-8TT-S and I'm curious as to whether it is capable of running SSH. Looks like Cisco has removed the version from their download area completely.

2940's support SSH as long as you have crypto code IOS installed on the device.  Its still in the download area, "usually it has a K9" in the name but some the earlier switches like 2950's and 2940's did not use the K9 denotation .  Not sure why anyone is saying its not available , I can go right to it on the download page. The specific EA8 image is not there but EA9 - 14  is downloadable.  Do a dir flash: , if the middle numbers say "6k2l2q4"  then its crypto code , if it looks like the second image it is not.

I'm aware that 2940's are capable. I'm inquiring about this code version and if it is infact a crypto code IOS. I can't find any info on 12.1(22)EA8a

In order to SSH, you need to have an image with "K9" in it

so, do a "sh ver" and see if your current image has K9 in it, if not download an imge with K9

Thats a pretty old IOS and you wont find that in the download page. The lowest version that you can download now would be 12.1.22-EA9(ED) and the latest would be 12.1.22-EA14(ED).

The following image (in EA8 environment ) supports SSH and your Current IOS version should also support SSH.if its a Crypto image.

.tar images are C2940 IOS CRYPTO AND WEB BASED DEVICE MANAGER. Please also note Cisco IOS Release 12.1(22)EA8 is based on Cisco IOS Release 12.1(22)E8. Open caveats in Cisco IOS Release 12.1(22)E8 also affect Cisco IOS Release 12.1(22)EA8
