Hello,
I am having an issue with a 2801 router. After succesfully starting the router, I get the question if to start the auto setup and i am supposed to answer yes/no, the problem is i cannot input any response either yes or no, the router seems to jam completely. The console cable is ok, i have tried with another router.
Kindly advice
Regards
Ahmed

hi ahmed,
try to check your baud speed and other settings on your terminal emulation program. check whether they're the same settings used on your other router.

Hello John,
Yes the terminal emulator has same settings as for the other router.

Hi,
If possible try changing the baud rate settings of the hyper terminal and then test.

Ahmed,
I have had a similar problem, we sent the router back to Cisco and they replaced it. Ours was brand new, I don't know if yours is. This may be a known fault to Cisco.
What we did that gave the same symptoms was:
Brand new Router.
It booted first time.
We configured it.
Saved the config.
Restarted it but then it appears to hang on boot.
Light indications on front but no activity.
Sent it back to Cisco for replacement.
The router was purchased around Nov 2010, there may be a trend or known issue with this version of router.
