2851 + NME-XD-48ES-2S-P

Hi All,

I have a 2851 with NME-XD-48ES-2S-P installed.

I have had some problem to configure it because I cannot find any documentation on cisco website

I have found that exist 2 gigabit ethernet interface that connect the module to router.

I have the module installed on slot 1

sh diag | incl Slot | NME
Slot 1:
     Product (FRU) Number     : NME-XD-48ES-2S-P

So I guess that GigabitEthernet1/0 connect the switch to router.

I assigned ip address to GigabitEthernet1/0 and then

service-module GigabitEthernet1/0 session

open session with the switch.

When I was on switch I try to guess what was the interface connected to router...I found that:

show service-module status
Service Module is in STEADY state
Service Module target interface is GigabitEthernet1/0/4
Interface GigabitEthernet1/0/3 is connected to BACKPLANE

So I guessed that interface connected to GigabitEthernet1/0 should be GigabitEthernet1/0/4.

Now I have configure interface vlan 1 with the same subnet of GigabitEthernet1/0 and I can ping each interfaces.

I need NAT so I configure GigabitEthernet1/0 as nat inside and all works.

Now I have to create different VLAN, for example VOICE, and I'm asking myself how...?

I try to define an interface vlan 200 on the switch but nothing is routed between vlan 1 and vlan 200. I guess because router doesn't know vlan200 and in "standard" setup with separate router and switch I define GigabitEthernet1/0 and GigabitEthernet1/0/4 as 802.1q trunk interface.

have I to do the same? Define trunk on each interface or else something like this:

2851
interface GigabitEthernet1/0
no ip address
!
interface GigabitEthernet1.1/0
encapsulation dot1Q 1 native
ip address 192.168.1.254 255.255.255.0
ip nat inside
!
interface GigabitEthernet1.200/0
encapsulation dot1Q 200
ip address 10.255.98.254 255.255.255.0
!
NME-XD-48ES-2S-P
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/4
switchport mode trunk
!
interface vlan 1
ip address 192.168.1.253 255.255.255.0
no ip route-cache
!
interface vlan 200
ip address 10.255.98.253 255.255.255.0
no ip route-cache
!

For access to modele from the router which interface I have to use?  GigabitEthernet1/0 o GigabitEthernet1.1/0?

I ask here because router is in production and I cannot do any trials or test.

Thanks for help.
