I have a number of 2960 switches that have crashed without any reason
Under show version
System returned to ROM by address error at PC 0x1021770, address 0x0
Is this a software issue. Do I need an IOS upgrade?
Thanks in advance
I have looked these errors up with out much luck. Tried the Output Interpreter which suggested exception crashinfo for a more detailed description if it happens again
However I am more interested in why it happened in the first place

Without any idea what exact appliance you've got plus my experience with this IOS, my recommendation is to use either 15.0(1)SE3 or 12.2(55)SE5.
I'm still testing IOS version 12.2(55)SE6 and 15.0(2)SE so I can't provide you with any feedack.

Ok, that settles it.
I have a fleet of these in my network and I've used this IOS version in the past and I can only say this: Upgrade your IOS, QUICKLY.
There's a major memory leak on this IOS and it affected 100% of my 48-port 2960 with PoE.
