Hi,
I have a Cisco 3550-12T and I have a few different machines plugged in for 1 gigabit connections. I seem to have a limit of 40MB/s to 45MB/s across machines. However the machines will run faster. For instance I plugged it into a dum Belkin 1Gigabit switch and got 65MB/s.
What could be causing this on the switch ?
Thanks
Ed

P.S. - The same isue affects all out 3550-12T units. Are these units just slow ?? Surely at the price they should be to spec ?
Thanks

Hard to conclude on the platform slowness. All it is do in this copy process - send L2 packets in HW as servers/host should already resolve ARP in single VLANs before transfer. Particular slowness on the switch would be explained by drops which we did not see. Can you try to do various ping (size, patterns) between these hosts through 3550 and another switch. And compare the difference in delay you get.
That may give some clear picture.

Hi,
Sorry for late reply. The results are the same through this and a identical switch... hmmm odd. Different hardware too. IE not down to network cards etc...
Was there any known issues in the IOS on these units ?
Thanks
Ed
