3560 displaying Chinese characters after a reload

Hello,

I have an environment with multiple routers and switches.

After I issue a "reload" while doing maintenance, two of the 3560's (WS-C3560-24PS) didn't come back online.

At the console, they're displaying unreadable characters.

Has anyone seen this before?

Are you connected via the console port?

Then is will be the baud rate. Change it to 9600.

HTH,

Ian

Ian,

Thanks for the quick reply.

As you can see from the picture, I'm connected via console port using hyperterminal; current baud rate is 9600.

I was connected through a terminal server before; I ran into this issue and now connecting via console to fix it.

OK. I thought they were up but just giving out this rubbish on the console - usually a baud rate problem. But I just re-read and you're saying the switches didn't actually come back online?

Then you're doing the right thing already and connecting to them directly. I guess you will try to restart them again. Let us know how it goes - if they boot correctly or if they boot into another mode.

Hi,

I would reboot the pc used to access the swithes, try it from another pc or even try another terminal emulator instead, like Putty.

Best regards,

Giorgos

Guys...thanks for the various contributions.

I changed the baud rate to 115200 and it worked.......I think I did a xmodem transfert a while ago and forgot to change back.

Thanks again.

Issue resolved

Welcome.

Can you mark it as solved?

Cheers,

Ian

To return into default mode, enter the ROMmon command "unset BAUD".
