3560 V2 48pt Switch - second transceiver port not active

I have a 3560 V2 48port switch that is working in a live environment and has a transceiver connected into one of the two transceiver ports and is working without issue.

I am connecting a second fibre run to this switch. I have connected the transceiver with the fibre cable connected into the second transceiver port on the switch. However, I am seeing no activity at all. As I test I connected it into the currently working port and saw activity so I know the fibre run, fibre cable and transceiver are all functioning correctly. The issue seems to be with the second transceiver port.

Is this a fault or is this something that needs to be configured in order to 'enable' the second port.

Thanks,

Seán

If the cabling and the optics are all good, then maybe the interface is in shutdown mode.

try this

config t

interface x/x (this is the interface you have the fiber connected to)

no sh

exit

exit

wr

To verify the interface is up or down

sh ip int brie gix/x

If the above suggestion does not help, try crossing the fiber strands on one side of the connection.
