Hello,
We have a REP (resilient ethernet protocol) ring formed from 2xCisco 3560E and 1xCisco 4900M
One cisco 3560E (WS-C3560E-48TD-S) with firmware 12.2(55)SE (ipservices)
configured as an edge switch - both TenGig ports are edge
The problem :
Since we started REP load raised on this 3560E for aprox 20% and we getting this messages every minute in log :
Sep 4 01:10:21.985: %BIT-4-OUTOFRANGE: bit 60 is not in the expected range of 0 to -1
-Traceback= 1C13F4 1C14B0 175E49C 17557EC 17519D4 1751D58 174BB2C 1EE8088 1EDEAF8
Sep 4 01:10:51.460: %BIT-4-OUTOFRANGE: bit 60 is not in the expected range of 0 to -1
-Traceback= 1C13F4 1C14B0 175E49C 17557EC 174C034 1751844 1751D00 174BB2C 1EE8088 1EDEAF8
Is it a bug or... ?
Thanks

Hi Aleksandr,
Rep is not supported on 3560 E..It is supported only on metro platforms...Are you able to configure it ?

Ofcourse.
Its not supported on 3560G, but on 3560E its fully functional.
UPD. its actualy supported on many platforms ( like 4900 and 6500 etc)... not only ME

Its supported on 4k and 6k,but i am sure it is not officially supported on 3560e.
Can you please attach the output of "sh run" and "sh version" from 3560e.

hmm..You shudn't be able to configure rep on 3560e...this looks like a bug

Im having this "bug" (rep working) since 12.2(53) i think...
Plus i cant see a paper where it is sad that REP will only work on certain models.
REP on cisco 3560E is a question of marketing/sales and ofc not "tech/hardware"
What about my bug ?

Second cat3560E doesnt have it, maybe because its not configured as edge...

Hi Aleksandr,
Its interesting that one 3560e has it and one doesn't...Both of them shudn't have it...If you can configure rep on 3560e,please file a bug...The traceback will be after effect of this bug
Rep support on 3560e will be extended in next release for 3560e(which i guess is 15.0(2)SE.

No no, i mean second 3560E doenst have this error msg not REP
Both 3560E running REP quite fine.
By "extended" you mean that in 15.0(2) cisco will officialy add support of REP in 3560E ?
09-04-2011 01:18 AM
Yes,15.0(2) will officialy add support for rep..You may go ahead with filing a bug if you are able to configure on any version before that.

i mean on any 3k or 2k except metro...

Can you direct me where i can post my bug please? I need more then Guest accout to do this ?

I think you need to work with TAC team for this...They will file a bug on your behalf.
