3750 Stack Hardware Version

Hi,

We currently have 6 stack of 3750G series switches which running "ipbase" image. We recently bought a 3750x series switch to add to the existing stack. The 3750X switch has a universal image. I going to downgrade the image to match "ipbase". The 3750x switch have IP base permanent license. I provisioned the switch on the master using the command “switch 7 provision ws-c3750x-24”. But when I do show switch the newly added 3750x has a Hardware version as 1. Just wondering whether it will cause any issues when I add to the satck.

Switch#  Role   Mac Address     Priority Version  State

----------------------------------------------------------

*1       Master xxx.xxxx.xxx         15     0       Ready

2       Member xxxx.xxxx.xxx     14     0       Ready

3       Member xxxx.xxxx.xxxx     1      0       Ready

4       Member xxxx.xxxx.xxxx     1      0       Ready

5       Member xxxx.xxxx.xxxx     1      0       Ready

6       Member xxxx.xxxx.xxxx     1      0       Ready

7       Member 0000.0000.0000     0      1       Provisioned

Thanks

Nachi

Just make sure your existing switch stack is running IOS version 12.2(53)SE2 and later otherwise yoru 3750X will not be "recognized".

Hi Nachiappan,

You will be fine. They are fully stack-compatible.
If you look closely, the 3750 and 3750x actually run the same train.

Thanks for your reply.

The existing stack switch is running "c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE1.bin". I will downgrade the 3750x to

c3750e-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE1.bin to match the existing ones.

My concern is the hardware version of 3750x is 1 and other switches are 0. will this cause any problem ?

Thanks

Nachi

Thanks Latchum.

I added the switch to the stack yesterday without any issues.
