Im considering connecting several switches to a 3750G-12S switch - but Im un-sure how many would be appropriate -?
My concerns is the inner capacity of the 3750G-12S, allthough it has 12 SFP ports can it handle 11 switches connected to it? -the 12th port is connected to a router.
What is the maximum number of MAC-addresses that the 3750G-12S can learn/store?
Is the internal fabric buffers sufficient to handle 11 other swithces?
Any comment is appreciated!
If you are looking at it from a port density point of view, have you considered stacking?
Stacking has a limit of 9, so you can manage it as two stacks connected to each other. This will also provide higher availability in case of single switch failure.
With regards to the MAC address limit, it varies from 6k to 12k depending on the SDM template
The switches are not co-located by installed at different sites, connected by WDM. For local interconnected switches we will definately concider stacking
Regarding the MACs 12 k sound reasonably
Have you any idea regarding buffers for a given port? Say 1 GE port carries traffic from +5 other GE ports?
