Hello!
i have a trouble with DHCP on 3850
1. 3750 - setup dhcp on 3750
connecting ESXI Mahcine to port 1, create Guest OS and configure all guest OS receive address from DHCP and ALL WORK FINE
2. replace 3750 - and setup stacked 3850
configure 3850 and all work properly.....
some day i configured DHCP Service on 3850, connected ESXI to port 1, create few Guest OS
1.1 vmnic ( ESXI interface ) configured obtaining from DHCP
1.2 ALL Guest OS = 2008R2 and configured using dhcp address
1.3 VMINC received address - 192.168.1.1, Guest OS received 192.168.1.2,192,168.1.3 etc.
1.4 show ip dhcp binding - list all ip address and everything looks good
start ping
192.168.1.1 success
192.168.1.2 fail
192.168.1.3 fail
ALL Guest OS can't passing ping but can leasing address! =(
i thinked mb ESXI work wrong?
i have IBM Bladenetwork -
1. Configured trunk with IBM -> 3850 ( DATA VLAN 100, NATIVE 1 )
2. Create ip interface on IBM 192.168.1.253 255.255.255.0
3. Add his interface to VLAN 100
4. Create DHCP pool on 3850 for 192.168.1.0 network and SVI 192.168.1.254 255.255.255.0
5. On Blade server installing ESXI and add vmnic ( ESXI interface ) to VLAN 100
6. This interface obtain IP Address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
looks like ok? but i can't ping them........
7. Create Guest OS - Windows 2008R2, obtain 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0
8. Can't ping too....
ping success only with interface on IBM Switch 192.168.1.253 all ip address behind them not work.
If i create DHCP pool on WINDOWS ALL WORK FINE, and i can ping all interface and Guest OS\ESXI interface
delete DHCP pool from Windows
recreate on 3850, ping don't pass again, all interface obtain IP address, but not pinged.

Hi,
On the 3850 when you create the IP pool make sure to exclude the SVI's IP address and any other address you don't want in the pool.
ip dhcp excluded-address range

Hi, thx for reply
my SVI have higest ip address i dont worry about that, i dont have duplicate address
DHCP protocol work fine
ICMP and other NOT
mb this is security ? i dont know, why 3850 block traffic behind ESXI or behind IBM network
3850 -ping success--->ESXI ( -ping fail--> Guest OS )
3850 -ping sucess--->IBM Switch(EN4093R or Nortel l2\l3) -ping fail--> ESXI on Blade Server -ping fail--> Guest OS on this ESXI
DHCP on all interface ESXI\Guest OS\ work properly

Hello
So then this something you haven't shared with us - the 3850 isn't doing the intervlan routing correct?
How does this stack connect to the network?

thx for reply and help
in my post from bottom
mb my eng is bad ) not my native
this is ALL SAME NETWORK 192.168.1.x (not need intervlan routing)
3850(SVI .254 ) -ping success--->ESXI (Eth .1 ) ( -ping fail--> Guest OS Eth .2)
3850(SVI .254) -ping sucess--->IBM Switch(EN4093R or Nortel l2\l3 .253) -ping fail--> ESXI on Blade Server ( Eth .3) -ping fail--> Guest OS on this ESXI ( Eth .4 )
DHCP on all interface ESXI\Guest OS\ work properly
If i configure DHCP ON WINDOWS not on 3850 all work fine, and i can ping all ethernet interface on all ESXI\IBM\Guest OS
Problem occur only when i create DHCP pool on 3850
if you confused from where i pinged
ping sourve vlan 100 ( SVI 192.168.1.254 )

Hello
So your saying the dhcp clients DO obtain an ip address but cannot ping each other when the 3850 has dhcp server enabled but they can ping the 3850 correct?
Can you post your 3850 config please inclusing the DHCP pool
