I have a switch port reporting a faulty status. The device plugged in is a management port of an ISR4431, which is not a POE device, however it is still showing that a power device is detected.
*Nov 25 08:17:30.042: %ILPOWER-7-DETECT: Interface Gi1/0/7: Power Device detected: IEEE PD *Nov 25 08:17:32.630: %ILPOWER-5-IEEE_DISCONNECT: Interface Gi1/0/7: PD removed *Nov 25 08:17:32.631: %ILPOWER-3-CONTROLLER_PORT_ERR: Controller port error, Interface Gi1/0/7: Power given, but Power Controller does not report Power Good
There is another port configured this way, but does not report the issue.
Version is 3.06.06E
Any thoughts on the cause or how to fix?

Timothy,
Have you checked the cabling? PoE detection is based on the presence of a specific resistance across the PoE pairs of the cable. A faulty cable could cause this.

Hello,
I looked around and the below might get rid of the error:
First, run 'power inline never' on the interface, GigabitEthernet1/0/7. Then, configure this on the interface:
power inline port priority high
power inline static max 15400

This sounds like a bug.

It looks like:
Switch reports Power device detected when non device is connected
CSCuw22050
https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuw22050/?referring_site=bugquickviewclick
However there is power detected even with a non-POE device plugged into it (a 4431).
Is there another bug that may cause this?

It should be noted that both devices are actually POE ports. Neither being a consumer of course.

I have this problem as well. Happen randomly to my switchport connecting to desktop and printer. Workaround is to turn off POE on the affected switchport

Hello,
what about the previous suggestion, does that help ?
--> Run 'power inline never' on the affected interface. Then, configure this on the interface:
power inline port priority high
power inline static max 15400

I just switch off the POE "power inline never" the day it happen and thats solve it.
By the way the impact of this issue will make the switchport intermittent flap rapidly, port inoperational(no connection detected at user device) in few minutes.
Will try your suggestion if we have downtime period. Thanks
