Hi,
I'm attempting a version upgrade on a 3850-24S-S from:
03.06.06E (CAT3K_CAA-UNIVERSALK9-M) To Gibraltar-16.12.10 MD (cat3k_caa-universalk9.16.12.10.SPA.bin)
It fails with the following error:
Starting compatibility checks
[1]: % Candidate package compatibility checks failed because the following
package dependencies were not satisfied. Operation aborted.
[1]: % An internal error was encountered. Operation aborted.
I'm a scared to use "force", can it brick the switch? Inputs are appreciated.

Hi,
It appears that you have to use the force command. See this post:

Be very carful if the switch is in production as you may brake things.

Always use the "force" option. Always. All the time.

run the software install command with "new force"
software install file tftp://x.x.x.x/cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.09.E.152-2.E9.bin new force
Here is the Catalyst 3850 series switch Troubleshooting documentation....Hope...it may useful....
