I am trying to run the soft clean on 3850 switch stack. However, I am receiving the follow error message:
% Operation timed out waiting for switch 5 to respond. Operation aborted.
I am in the process of upgrading the IOS, so if switch 5 is unresponsive, my upgrade I assume will be unsuccessful. I do I resolve this issue? How to I get switch 5 to become responsive?
stack#software clean
Preparing clean operation ...

- Power cycle switch 5; preferably attach a console to it and check for special error messages if any. Then try your operation again.

Ooooooh, I've seen that error message before.
Post the complete output to the command "sh version".
The last time I saw that error message was on a stack with 3.6.X and an uptime of >3 years.

I rebooted the unresponsive switch with the reload slot 5 command. That cleared the issue! thanks for responding to my issue.

That worked! I worked with Cisco tac and that was their suggestion as well. Thanks for the assistance!

Hi!
could you post the output of the following show commands?
#show switch
#show switch stack-ports
#show log | inc STACK
Are there Devices connected on the Switchports of Switch #5 and are they working as expected?
I haven't found any Bug describing this problem via Bug Search so far.

I worked with Cisco tac. The solution was to reload the switch that was unresponsive, in my case it was switch 5. I ran this command:
reload slot 5
That cleared it. I reran the software clean command and it worked as expected. Thank responding to my issue.
