3850 with IOS 16.3.6 Devices lose ability to ping vlan gateway

Some Devices lose ability to ping vlan gateway, but you can manage switch normally.

Cannot ping Some devices from the switch or Distribution layer, but switch can ping the gateway.

Actions:  reset L3 vlan on Distribution = no change

Bounced the Port channel/uplinks  on the distribution = no change

Tested traceroutes from the access switch = no problems noted.

Attempted pings from devices connected to switches =  not successful at all.

sounds like switch is under pressure and dropping ICMP traffic on the control plane as its not prioritized its the first thing to go , does it ping through the switch end to end pc - pc , rather than pinging virtual gateway on the switch ? whats the CPU history like ?

looks ok , is it pinging through the switch ok ? pc - pc

the reason im asking is pinging virtual gateway will never jive solid results and its advised to ping through end to end to get an accurate reading if the switch is actually dropping any traffic

anything in logs showing CPU or FED issue or HOG issues ?

16.6.6 or .5 are two stable denali releases for that platform , running 16.6.5 last few months no issues

IOS Code is 16.3.6 ...

do not see any things for CPU/FED/HOG in logs

but do see FED in Crashfiles all
