Hi,
how many 10Ge ports does the 4500 series support on one V-10GE or II-Plus-10GE? We're going to build a HPC cluster next month and are looking for some switches.
I've already read the documentation about the 4,5k series but I'm not getting lighted.
thanks

Hello mrkofee,
I guess the chassis supports 2 10 Gig ports with both these SUP engines... the datasheet of the 4500 chassis shows that the models support 2 10 GE interfaces... anyway, there are a lot of differences between these SUP engines otherwise... it actually points more to performance, chassis support, etc...
You can have more look on the comparison between these two SUPs in the URL given below:

Hope this helps.. all the best.. rate replies if found useful..

Hi
Maximum 10GE port density supported on any Cisco 4500 chassis are 2. There are no 10GE line cards supported on 4500 switch. 10GE port on 4500 switch is supporetd only through the SUP. If you want higher port density go for 6500 switch.
