4500-X Layer 2 problems

Hi.

We have problems with connecting 4500-X with 3650 over 10G SFP+.

4500-X port:

interface TenGigabitEthernet1/15
no switchport
ip address 192.168.200.2 255.255.255.252
end

TenGigabitEthernet1/15 is up, line protocol is up (connected)
Hardware is Ten Gigabit Ethernet Port, address is xxxx (bia xxxx)
Description:
Internet address is 192.168.200.2/30
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000000 Kbit/sec, DLY 10 usec,
reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
Keepalive set (10 sec)
Full-duplex, 10Gb/s, link type is auto, media type is 10GBase-LR
input flow-control is on, output flow-control is on
ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
Last input 00:00:27, output never, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters 23:14:03
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
Queueing strategy: fifo
Output queue: 0/40 (size/max)
30 second input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec
30 second output rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec

Received 1565 broadcasts (0 IP multicasts)
0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
0 input errors, 0 CRC, 0 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored

0 output errors, 0 collisions, 2 interface resets
0 unknown protocol drops
0 babbles, 0 late collision, 0 deferred
0 lost carrier, 0 no carrier
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out

3650 configuration:

interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/3

  no switchport

  ip address 192.168.200.1 255.255.255.252

We can see devices over CDP, but we can not see other's MAC address. Also, we tried with switchports and the result was spanning tree P2P Dispute.

Te1/15              Desg BLK 2000      128.15   P2p Dispute

We changed SFP+ on both sides, optical wire, we tried connecting 4500-X to another 3650 with 10G ports, the results was the same. RX and TX power on both sides are good.

Optical Optical
Temperature Voltage Tx Power Rx Power
Port (Celsius) (Volts) (dBm) (dBm)
--------- ----------- ------- -------- --------
Te1/15 25.5 3.16 -3.5 -1.3

We can't ping each other, or any other data doesn't pass through this connection via VLAN or routed ports.

Does anyone has any idea?

Thanks.

Hello Egon,

You are using LR (Long Range SPF+).

What kind a transport you are using, dark fiber ?

Hi,

Try switching the stands on one side of the patch cord and test again.

Hello

So like a physical issue?
You sure the fibre is okay?
Have you tried:
- a different physical port entirely on the 4500x?
 - defaulting the interface and recreate it  from scratch?

When in L2 was this a Trunk connection if so did you had both sides configured the same regards vlan pruning native vlan etc...?

Do you have the exact model for both switches? Also, do you get any kind of log when you bring up the link between the switches?

In the "show interface <PORT>" of both units does either input or output show up as "never"?  If yes, can someone please try to shut/no shut the ports on both ends.
