4500R+E Replace/Upgrade Supervisor Engines

I have 4500E series switches with SUP-7s in redundant mode.  I am upgrading the Supervisors to SUP-9E.  Can I break redundancy with the current Supervisors, remove the non-active engine, install one of the new engines and configure it, copying the config while the system stays up?

I would then switch operation to the new SUP-9, remove the remaining SUP7 and instlall the other SUP 9.

Or do I need to basically power it down, remove both old ones and install the new ones and go from there?

It is not going to work.

It is better to power down the chassis and move the configuration from one supervisor card to another.

Please make sure the IOS is up-to-date.

If they are in same chassis, you required change window doing this.

Yes, Sups are in the same chassis, but not sure what you mean by change window.
