Good Morning all,
I have a TAC case opened for this right now but I thought I would share it as TAC at this point aren't able to resolve it.
I cannot issue the write memory or copy run start command on my 4500X VSS
PRD-SWCR01#wr
startup-config file open failed (Device or resource busy)
PRD-SWCR01#
Now TAC are suggesting it's from the following bug - CSCul95289
But it doesn't present like that, there are no unused VTY lines (just me);
PRD-SWCR01#sh users
Line User Host(s) Idle Location
* 1 vty 0 sullivw_a idle 00:00:00
lenovo-warren.pt.qld.gov.au
Interface User Mode Idle Peer Address
PRD-SWCR01#
It also hangs on large output requests, like sh run, sh tech etc.
They suggested an upgrade from 03.05.00.E to 03.05.02.E but this has not resolved the issues
A reload of the system temporarily resolves the issue, but the problem generally comes back within 24 hours.
Any ideas folks?
regards
warren

Hi Warren,
I also noticed some weird outputs also on 4500X 03.05.02.E in regards to "show redundancy"
or "show switch virtual" outputs, the formatting seems to be a little off.
On the 4500X platform I also had another weird issue that 10GE SFPs once plugged, unplugged they keep disapearing, for x amount of time, this sometimes can be 1-3 hours, in some other cases it even can take up to 12 hours until they magically re-appear, therefore plan your maintenance carefully when it comes to removing, and relocating 10GE SFPs. 1G SFPs did not seem to be affected. The 4500X's seem a bit of a problem platform to me, after having had 5 BugIDs raised within the last 8 month!

Here's what I've experienced but not on a 4500 but a 1941W ISR....
Problem: Same - Couldn't 'Write Memory' or 'Copy running-config Startup-config'...
Message: startup-config file open failed (Device or resource busy)
Investigation: When I did a show users, I found out that the router was holding onto old vty loging sessions...
########RTR01#sh users
Line User Host(s) Idle Location
132 vty 0 user idle 7w4d mx4.domain.com
133 vty 1 user idle 4w4d x.x.x.x
134 vty 2 user idle 3w5d mx4.domain.com
135 vty 3 user idle 3w5d x.x.x.x
136 vty 4 user idle 3w4d x.x.x.x
137 vty 5 user idle 3w2d mx4.domain.com
*138 vty 6 user idle 00:00:00 mx4.domain.com
Resolution: I cleared all of the old vty sessions and was then able to write memory...
