Hello All
I have loaded new image on 4506 cisco switch which currently is running on cat4500-ipbase-mz.122-31.SGA.bin..
New image will be cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.122-54.SG1.bin
On boot flash I can see both images
ebrswc01#sh bootflash
-#- ED ----type---- --crc--- -seek-- nlen -length- ---------date/time--------- name
1 .. image D5AC274F BDAD3C 32 12168380 Mar 24 2007 10:47:59 +00:00 cat4500-ipbase-mz.122-31.SGA.bin
2 .. image FDDD7352 1C9C1D0 34 17568788 Sep 16 2013 10:14:45 +01:00 cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.122-54.SG1.bin
31604272 bytes available (29737424 bytes used)
But in bootvar I see ",12;" at the end not sure what its for . will it boot with new image when ii do reload ?
ebrswc01#sh bootvar
BOOT variable = bootflash:cat4500-ipbasek9-mz.122-54.SG1.bin,12;
CONFIG_FILE variable does not exist

Hello.
The bootvariable is setup and looks fine, so next reload it will point to the new image which you specified in the boot variable.
Regarding to the number 12 at the end, as far as I know it means that it will try to boot 12 times from the boot variable configured, if it fails then it will go into rommon.
If further assistance let me know.
Regards.
