hi all,
i have another 4510 the other one wont let boot up in 2142 mode so i cant reset the password but this switch it has already been flattened :)
basically everytime i turn it off/on from the plugs or even enter the command #reset in Ios it starts in rommon mode and to boot up to Ios i need to enter in the #boot command and then it starts the Ios software
why is this, is this normal for it to go straight in rommon mode and to not auto boot into Ios
cheers,
rob

Hi,
No, that is not the correct behavior. The switch should boot directly to IOS every time you turn it off and then back on. Check your boot parameters to make sure it is set correctly. "show boot var" should show you the IOS you should boot from.

ok think i know what to do -
rommon#BOOT=
rommon#BOOT=bootflash:
rommon#sync
will that work?
or what about if i do when im in Ios
confreg 0x2102
copy run start

After the switch boots to IOS, try this command "sh boot" you should see something like this
BOOT variable = bootflash:<name of the IOS>
if you don't see the correct IOS, try setting the boot parameter using this command
boot system flash <name of the ios>
change the confreg to 0x2102, save config and reload.
