Hi all
Am I right in saying the 4500 now supports VSS ?
We need some new core switches for our datacentre but the 6509 may be overkill, possibly looking at 4507
what would be the rough percentage diff in price for these ?
Is the 4507 with Supervisor 8E powerful switch, we have the sup 720's in our 6509 at present, is it as poweful as them ?
cheers

Carl,
What are clients are you planning to connect? If you're going to say VMware or ESX "grade" servers, aka high-speed, hit-less servers, then 6500 or 4500 or 6800 will not be sufficient.
Think bigger, Nexus 7K, 6K, 5K & 2K is your solution.

"Ballpark", 4500 approach is probably going to be 1/3 to 1/2 cost of 6500 approach.
Comparing which is more (powerful depends very much on chassis, line card and supervisor choices. With the 6500s, DFCs are important too.
A "powerful" comparision might also include features (6500 tends to be feature richer).
