6509-E IOS information

All,

We're upgrading to a 6509E from a 3750. The one question that we have is do each module that you put into the chassis have it's own ios or is the ios for the sups the only one that we'll need?

For example, will we need an ios for the switch modules in addition to an ios for the sups?

Hi John,

Just the IOS for the SUP module.

If you are only using LAN and WAN line cards, those cards will be recognized by the SUP's IOS.

However, the 6500 is a multi services platform and some service modules will require its own OS like FWSM, CMM, ACE, etc.
