6509 etherchannel creating problem..

I had one nortel and one cisco switch. Two diffrent links are coming from two diffrent ISP`s. I have configured etherchannel between nortel and cisco as metroethernet. I want to replace nortel with cisco. When i tried to do so, i am getting RTO between ehterchannel at the same time when i configure point to point it is working fine. Can anyone suggest what might be the problem?????Configuration is checked. Pls suggest ASAP????

Hello Satya,

A couple of questions:

  • Are you using LACP or PAgP? Please try avoid using channel-group mode on style of EtherChannels. LACP is the preferred protocol to establish EtherChannel bundles.
  • Is it a L2 or L3 EtherChannel you want to configure?
  • When you replace the Nortel with Cisco and configure the EtherChannel on both switches, what is the output of the show etherchannel summary command on both switches?
  • What is RTO? Retransmit Time Out? What protocol or mechanism reports this RTO?

Best regards,

Peter
