i have
Route Switch Processor 720 RSP720-3CXL-GE
CEF720 4 port 10-Gigabit Ethernet WS-X6704-10GE
+ ios 12.2(33)SRE2
the same on ios c7600rsp72043_rp-IPSERVICES-M), Version 15.1(3)S0a
some times
rem com sw sh proc cpu s
CPU utilization for five seconds: 7%/0%; one minute: 6%; five minutes: 6%
PID Runtime(ms) Invoked uSecs 5Sec 1Min 5Min TTY Process

135 417280 2123114 196 3.83% 3.80% 3.83% 0 slcp process
far CPU utilization RP go to 100%
i do
clear cef linecard
CPU utilization go to 0%
some times per week
what is wrong ?

set up new ios c7600rsp72043_rp-IPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.2(33)SRE5
situation do not change

Hi Alex,
quick notation first; when you check "remote command switch show process cpu" you are actually checking the CPU utilization on the SP not on the RP.
Beside that what you see is just a cosmetic issue (wrong cpu utilization reading) documented in
CSCtf55740 XDR LC Prio Crit process showing 5sec CPU usage at 100%
====
Symptom:
High CPU utilization reported due to "XDR LC Prio Crit" process.
Conditions:
This issue is seen in the Switch Processor (SP) of Sup720 engines running
12.2(33)SRE1 release.
CPU utilization for the above mentioned process is not reported correctly.
for example, the switch reports the total CPU usage as 3%, while the CPU
usage for this specific process as 100% for 5sec and 49% for 5min Avg.
7600A#remote login switch
7600A-sp#show process cpu sorted 1min

376 102932 57572 1787 0.00% 0.27% 0.27% 0 Env Poll
As the CPU usage reported for this process is NOT correct, it should NOT
have any impact to the performance. This bug is cosmetic.
Workaround:
None.
This issue is cosmetic.
=====
Since it is cosmetic it will not be fixed in SRE train but only in 15.1S. Check the bug to see which exact cco rebuild will contain the fix. In the meantime don't be worried

Hi, Riccardo !

may be "This bug is cosmetic" in sp on ios sre
BUT i try newest ios 15.1(3)S0a and obtain low traffic on interface in highest cpu - to 100%
after clear cef linicard i obtain growing traffic and cpu 0%

Hi Alex,
I think that the SP CPU utilization is not related to what you are seeing now, which is RP CPU utilization in interrupts (no process is really going high but it is high CPU at interrupt level).
The fact that it goes away after you clear cef, which implies a TCAM reprogramming, might indicate some some kind of wrong/missing hardware programming on your PFC/DFC.
You might want to check with the TAC; anyway it is not related to 'XDR LC Prio Crit' going high on the SP.
