Access point not working

I have a 1130 cisco access point,we are using this for wireless cisco IP phone connectivity to the network.Earlier access point was woring fine and we were able to make calls through IP phone. But we have relocated to new place. Now the access point is not working and we are not able to make the calls on the wireless IP phone as the access point is not working. But the access is in the netwrok and we are able to ping the IP address of the Access point.

We are contonuously getting the below loggs on Access point and the access point is getting power from the ethernet port of the switch not through the external powerr adaptor.

error message:

: %CDP_PD-2-POWER_LOW: All radios disabled - NEGOTIATED WS-C

4507R (0012.7fb6.6e6c).

Please tell me is this error message the source of the issue or how to make this work.

Thanks,

Sathya.

Either the power injector or the switchport is not supplying enough power for the AP for some reason and the AP is shutting the radios off .  Troubleshoot the power issue.

Also check the power settings on the switch port that is connected to AP and that cdp is enabled on that switch port.

1.  Some 4000/4500 line cards will only operate up to 7.5w of PoE.  Can you post the output to the command "sh module"?

2.  You sure you have enough PoE power?

Hi leo,

i amsure that switch has enough POE power but the issue is that the switch is not providind the power more than 7.3 as you have mentioned.

The access poing is connecetd to the port fa3/45 on the switch.

Please let me know how to resolve the issue.

First check the AP power needs and the max it support. Don't want to "fry" it.

You may need to configure a static value for that port.

interface fa3/45

power inline static 15400

no cdp enable    -->this is optional, usualy in default settings cdp discover the power needs of the device.

thats 15.4W which is max that a port can supply. By setting a static value it give that port priority in power allocation. The only disadvantage is that power will be supplied to this port even when a poe device is not connected.

Hope this helps

Eugen

You are using WS-X4148-RJ45V card.  According to the "Cisco Catalyst 4500 Power over Ethernet Capabilities" can support only up to 7.0 w.  The WAP requires a minimum of 15.0 w PoE.
