Have a 3750G stack/IP Services running as stack master.
Does 3750E need to be master? Will 3750G still run IP services if the 3750E does not have the right license?
I'm not sure here, does Cisco really expect everyone to pay for full feature set when only the stack master/backup are doing the control plane?

Hello,
It does not matter which one is the master. As long as you run the same IOS on all the boxes, you should be fine.
You would also need a StackWise cable since you are connecting an E to none E and not StackWise Plus.
The license is per box not per set or stack.

All the members of the stack, including the master, should run the same IOS version number and the same FEATURE. If the 3750G is running IP Services and the rest is IP Base you will have a problem during the failover of the master. When the master (IP Services) fail, the remnants of the stack will have a seizure because the stack is expecting that the successor-to-the-throne will have IP Services. Otherwise, not one of the stack members will take over.
Unless you need features of the IP Services, downgrade to the same feature as the rest.

And also keep in mind that the overall stack switch forwarding capacity is reduced to 32 Gbps, because the ring negotiates down to StackWise mode..
