Adding MIBs to Cisco SG500

Hi,

I wanna know if it is possible to add MIBs to a switch and, if so, how can I do it. I have a cisco SG500 small business switch and I want to add the CISCO-CONFIG-COPY-MIB MIB to it.

Ps: I already have the .my file.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

I think you are misunderstanding what the purpose of a MIB is. It is used by an SNMP management station to translate the SNMP responses it receives from a device.

You need to check the OIDs which are supported by the SG500. OID support is dependant on hardware and can be enhanced by upgrading software on the device.

Take a look 'MIB SUPPORT -SW' tab here and check your SG500 software version for support of  CISCO-CONFIG-COPY-MIB :

http://snmp.cloudapps.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/MIBSupport.do?local=en&step=3

cheers,

Seb.

Thanks for the answer but my device does not run Cisco's iOS. The SG series is some kind of OEM and looks like Cisco does not provide OID trees for non iOS devices anymore.

But, anyway, guess I was not clear. I am trying to expand my switches OIDs. Now the SG500 does support the CISCO-CONFIG-COPY-MIB tree, so I am trying to add it.

If you have confirmed that the OIDs for config copy exist on the SG500 then don't worry about the MIB, just use the explicit OID strings when issuing SNMP commands.

Take a look at the Appendix of this document, it will show you the OID numbers required:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ip/simple-network-management-protocol-snmp/15217-copy-configs-snmp.html#app

cheers,

Seb.
