Additional desktop switch added to 3560

I have a training class and the powers at be would like for me to plug a desktop d-link dumb switch into a port on the 3560 switch that we currently have onsite. Will it be as simple as turning down the port security on the port that is in use or would I have to trunk or uplink the port that will be used. New admin here...thanks.

Hard to tell.  I'm not sure what model of D-Link (you'll need to do your own research) because not all "smart" switch can support VLANs other than VLAN 1 or multiple VLANs.  It's not as "easy" because in some cases it could potentially cause a network loop.

Disable UDLD, BPDU Guard and STP portfast on the 3560 port facing the D-Link.

When you connect the switch, make sure you are personally there nearest the port.  The very first sign of "slow network" unplug the switch immediately from the D-Link.

I don't think you can trunk a dumb switch. So, if you have only one vlan on the 3560, than you can just plug it in, turn down port security and should be fine.
