Hi,
Supervisor 720 comes with two sfp & a ethernet port( if i recall ). what is the purpose of this sfp & port on the supervisor for.
and what configuration is required to use it.

Hi,
This is just like a regular ethernet port on any other line card. This port is normally used as an uplink but can be configured as an access port (used for connecting a host) also.

thanks Shashank. if so, do these ports have any special capability since they are seperately on sup engine.
to use it as normal ports, under which interface should the configurations be put. like if the sup is on 3rd module, will it be:
int gig 3/1
switchport trunk
etc.
please suggest.

Hi,
This port generally has better queuing architecture than ports on most ethernet line cards and has no oversubscription. Apart from this, there is no difference.

thanks, final one. can 2 such ports on dual chasis be connected by straight over cable , configured to be in same vlan to check usual connectivity.
