After upgrade vstack configuration is not showing

After upgrade the IOS on 4507  vstack feature configuration is removed from the switch

Previous version: 3.8.6E

New Version     :  03.11.01.E          

Also if can explain what is the benefit of vstack feature?

Hi,

Vstack is used for smart install or no-touch upgrade. If you are not doing that, you don't need the feature. See the link for more info.

To determine whether a Cisco IOS or IOS XE device is configured with the Smart Install client feature enabled, use the show vstack config privileged EXEC command on the Smart Install client. The following is the output of the show vstack config command in a Cisco Catalyst Switch configured as a Smart Install client. The output for Role: Client from the show vstack config command confirms that the feature is enabled on the device.

switch#show vstack config  
 Role: Client  Vstack Director IP address: 10.1.1.100

Note: Smart Install client functionality is enabled by default on Cisco IOS switches.

What is vstack director? Can you post the command lines here to configure on 4507 switch for new version 03.11.01.E
