Hello everyone,

If I have VLANs 200 through 300 how do I go about allowing multicast traffic between VLANs 205 and 206 only?  Equipment in question is a 6509

Thanks in advance.  All replies rated.

Enable multicast routing and then only enable PIM on the SVIs for vlan 205 and vlan 206.

So -

1) "ip multicast-routing"

2) under each SVI you want to route multicast between "ip pim dense-mode" or "ip pim sparse-mode"

Note for just two vlans you may as well use dense mode as the above is all the configuration you need.

If you use sparse mode you also need to define and RP and if it really is only two vlans dense mode will be fine.
