Hello,
we have an ASA 5505 firewall. We try to configure for the first time.
We connect the firewall to our server by console cable but, the server doesn't detect the firewall (you can see the screenshot.gif attachement). What we can do?

Hi
If this port works properly you should see some characters or information lines pressing enter.
Try with other device.

Hi,
What terminal emulator are you using to console in? You can use "putty" which is free or secure CRT (not free) and post the output when connecting.

Hi
What type of adapter are you using? or connecting the console cable to the serial port the other end to the console port on the firewall?

Hi Julio,
I'm using the cable that came in the package (blu cable, from ethernet to serial port). I'm connecting diractly from the firewall to the server without any adapter. Any suggestion?

Thank you,
The laptops usually dont have serial ports so we need to use USB-Serial adapters to connect to the console cable and then to the devices. But I am not sure if the servers have serial ports.
This is used commonly on these days
It is a third party adapter.

I connected the firewall to our server (win server 2008 r2) by serial port.
