Dear Guys,
I just found out that one of my switch is acting weird. I am able to login remotely (telnet) to the switch but unable to get into the privileged mode. The username and password is locally set, there is no aaa server configured. I've read some articles that I found when google this matter, but all the case refers to aaa server, which I do not use for this device. The output is pretty much like this.
User Access Verification
Username: atsjaringan
Password:
2960X>en
% Error in authentication.
2960X>en
% Error in authentication.
2960X>
When I tried to login with another username, the switch would not even asked about the password. It's like the switch knows that the username I entered is not listed locally.
User Access Verification
Username: adminet
% Authentication failed
Username: adminacs
% Authentication failed
Username: adminpsi
% Authentication failed
Any idea why my switch is acting like that? Is there anything I could do remotely to check this? The switch is located on remote site, so I just want to prepare things before I go to the site for console access.
Regards,
Faris

- Type enable 'in full' to make sure that enable access is not working ; unfortunately without access to the running-config it will be difficult to tell what's really wrong (indeed).

- Ok, as stated you will need access to the running-config.
