Hello,
I have one switch that is auto-negotiating to 10 mbps (a-10) and I am curious as to why it is doing this. I have tried to separate laptops on two different ports and they keep negotiating to 10 mbps.
Now I have another 3560 switch with the same negotiation settings configured and it is negotiating 1000 mbps for the same laptops.
Does anybody know why this would occur?

Do both switches have the exact same ios and and exact same configs?

Both switches are currently running 12.2(25) and have the same config for the switch ports.

Using the same cables for both tests ? Also on the one you are having trouble look at the running config and make sure the ports don't have the setting "speed auto 10" configured , this limits the speed at which it will autonegotiate. The only things I can think of that would cause something like that . Reinput the port settings on the switch as "speed auto " .

The running-config does not show "speed auto 10" under the swtich ports. Are there any other factors that would limit the speed negotiation on a switch port?

Hi,
I wonder - what duplex setting does the switch negotiate along with the 10Mbps speed? Can you actually post the full configuration of the port that negotiates to 10M only?
Best regards,
Peter

Just tested it out again on both switches. Seems it is negotiating 10 on every switch I plug into, I must have misread the int status.
Other computers are able to pull 1 gig just fine so it must be unique to the chipset.
Thanks!
