banner motd (WONT LET ME COPY IN!)

I have several different models of switches that I need to put a new banner in. I am in the config prompt and type banner motd and then try to copy my banner in to it.  I am only getting about half way. Is the reason why a character limit?  I have quite a few characters (190 word and 1,2 98 character with spaces).

Any tips would be appreciated.

Hello parakiteiz,

According to Cisco docs, the limit is 255 characters.

I have seen documentation that states ASA has a limit of 510 characters, but in your case, it should be 255.

Below quote is for a 3560 and a 3750.

"message, enter a banner message up to 255 characters. You cannot

use the delimiting character in the message."
