Best options for switch management access

I have several switches in my DMZ or Provider Edge areas that I would like to management over an in-band connection.  Getting approval for a console server wont be possible until next fiscal year at the earliest.

With the newer nexus switches with a dedicated management port, I would know what to do.

Wasnt sure what was the best way to handle this.  Would putting a layer 2 vlan on the switch in question and connecting it my core switch on an access port be the best option ?  Is there another option that some of you would suggest ?

I'm assuming your DMZ is protected by a firewall, is that correct? Also, what kind of access does the DMZ have to your internal LAN.
