I'm upgrading IOS on an 1861 from 12.4.24 to 15.1.4, and I've noticed that the bootstrap is running 12.4. Being a major version upgrade on the IOS, I was wondering if I should upgrade the bootstrap while I'm at it. I've found the procedure for updating it, but I'm not sure what the source file is for the upgrade, and I can't seem to find in in the cisco downloads. Am I supposed to extract this from the IOS binary file somehow, or am I missing something on cisco's site for downloading a newer version? Or...is there even a newer version of the bootstrap?

I've noticed that the bootstrap is running 12.4.
Which exact version?
I've just checked the Cisco Software Download website and the 1861 doesn't give you option to download a new bootstrap. So I guess my initial response is a moot point.

ok thanks, I beginning to suspect that it doesn't support it the more I googled, but nothing explicitly says it doesn't.
thanks
