C3850-2-10G Issue

Hello,

I've purchased a Cisco 3850-24T-L with C3850-NM-2-10G and 2 GLC-10G-SR, my porblem is when i plug the SFP module and issue show inventory, neither my NM module nor my SFP are shown in the output. When i remove the NM module and plug it in back i get a message "unsupported FRU module removed from slot 1".

PS: when i issue show ip interface brief i can see the TeGig ports from 1/1/1 to 1/1/4.

hey reseat the module see if its showing in inventory there supported in that platform but to use the 10gb ports only port 3 and 4 work while ports 1-4 support 1gb

Thank you for you quick answer,  i tried to  reset the module several times but nothing happens, i'm facing the same issue with 3 other switches and 3 other NM modules.

Hi,

Do you have the correct software (in reference to Mark's post) installed?

Also, in your first post, you said GLC-10G-SR are you sure this is a 10Gig GlC or are you referring to SFP+? Can you verify?  Can you provide the card and SFP part numbers?

The SFP i'm using is SFP-10G-SR and the NM card i'm using is C3850-NM-2-10G, my switch software version is 03.07.03.E. If you need any other informations let me know.

Try plugging the 10Gig SFP+ into port 3 and 4 on the module and test again?

(te1/1/3 & 4)

The whole NM module is not recognized by the switch not only the SFP module.

Hello,

After contacting Cisco TAC, we found out that the switchs were faulty (manufacturing issue), when we replaced the faulty switchs every thing worked fine.

How many switches did you have to replace?  I have two in a stack and one recognizes the NM card and the other does not when I do "show inventory" but I see all of the interfaces in the config and the ports are working fine.

Can you check if there are SFP ports that have gone into error-disable?  If yes, then kindly refer to CSCut87886.

Refer to CSCvb70052.  

Kindly disregard the "Known affected release".  It states 3.7.5 but I suspect there is more and no one has bothered to update the information, hence, possibly the reason why someone has rated it a 1-star.
