Hello, can anyone answer my questions regarding these switches please.

1. What are the advantages of the newer 5500 models

2. Am I able to use these as normal 10gbe switches without Fibre Channel

Thanks

Hi,

The Nexus series switches are designed for data center use. If you don't need fiber channel support, you can get the non-UP version of these switches. How many 10Gig ports do you need? Do they need to be copper or fiber?

Ok perfect so I can get a c5010 or a c5548p and that will work fine with Cisco DAC sfp cables I am planning to use 16 or so fibre ports some of those going to a Gigabit FEX, also what is the diffirence between those two ? Just better hardware ?

As per i know both models are EoS, suggest to go with nexus 5572UP

Ok However you said I don't need the up version in my scenario as Fc is useless to me

Correct. You don't need UP (Universal Ports) version if you are not using it for FCOE.
