C6880X and 6800IA reboots when VSL link is broken

Hi All,

Met with a strange behaviour today,

we have 2x C6880X and IAs etherchanneled to either core.

When the VSL is unplugged, the core and IAs will reboot and fail to restore connection.

VSS is on (show switch virtual link)

Could really use some help here, thanks a lot!

Depends how you have configuered, explain more how the setup and topology and show run config of both the devices.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

The setup is normal:

Two 6880 with 2x physical links in 2 portchannels

IAs are connected with 2x physical links (portchannel), one link each to each 6880

UPDATE:

I noticed that Fast Hello is enabled but I do not have a third physical link for it.

So is it normal behaviour for the Cores and IAs to reload when VSL breaks in this case?

I did read about the split brain scenario

Hello,

does a 'normal' failover work (redundancy force-switchover) ?

I'll try it during another downtime, thanks for suggesting!
