"install add file bootflash:cat9k_iosxe.17.09.05.SPA.bin"

is this the only command you issued to upgrade ?

Do you stack and it got 2 switches ?

OLD IOS XE 17.9.4a is install mode or bundle mode ?

For me the error is cosmetic -

check below command see you have activated and instaleld ?

dir flash:  or dir bootflash:

check any packages.config and new IOS XE 17.9.5 pkg files available

check the upgrade guide has detailed steps :

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst9300/software/release/17-9/release_notes/ol-17-9-9300/upgrading_the_switch_software.html

is this the only command you issued to upgrade ?

I first wanted to skip "active commit", so the answer ist yes.

Do you stack and it got 2 switches ?

Yes

OLD IOS XE 17.9.4a is install mode or bundle mode ?

install mode

For me the error is cosmetic -

Good.

check below command see you have activated and instaleld ?

See next post.

dir flash:  or dir bootflash:

check any packages.config and new IOS XE 17.9.5 pkg files available

I don't understand what you mean by that.

check the upgrade guide has detailed steps :

I did before uprading.

as per the output the installation not took place so the OLD IOS XE still active  17.9.4a.

what is the uptime ?

Hope you have enough space ?

so you looking to only install (dont want to activate and commit)

Software Installation Commands  (above document steps)

Output looks good.  IF the stack reboots, it will load 17.9.4a.

So i can ignore the message "Warning: ISSU compatibility check failed for 17.09.05.0.6450" ??

Basically the switch not upgraded - so the IOS XE old retain as it it.

Suggest to reload when the maintenance window, and progress to IOS XE upgrade to .5

  1. Yeah, that's beacause i've cleared the stuff with "request platform software package clean switch all" after stopping the update process when i saw the warning.

Well, no.

Currently, the 17.9.5 packages did not unpack.

If the objective is to upgrade to 17.9.5, I strongly recommend avoid using ISSU or get a proactive TAC Case when upgrading using ISSU.

Yes, the objective is to upgrade from 17.9.4a to 17.9.5.

Do i use ISSU with my commands aboth? If so i am not aware of this and if how can i avoid it? I only know this procedure from the documentation.

Please refer to attached document.

If this is a standalone (non-VSS), refer to Chapter 1.  (Chapter 2 covers 9500 VSS firmware upgrade.)

Hi,

i've updated the version to 17.9.5. and just ignored the message with the ISSU warning. Everythings seems to run just fine.

I've used :

(config)#boot system flash:packages.conf

(config)#no boot manual

#install add file flash:cat9k_iosxe.17.06.05.SPA.bin activate commit

glad all good and our suggestion help here..appreciated your feedback.
