Cable patching wall frames

Hello, regarding the wall frames that are used to handle switch patch cables i..e. the  cables run from office wall ports to the wall frame in the rack room, then from the wall frame to the switch. Then if you want to re-patch a port, you do the re-patching on the wall frame with a special tool rather than on the switch patch panel. So the cables connecting to the switch never change.

I am interested to know how widely this method is used compared to normal patch panels on switch racks i.e. is wall frame patching considered more professional and tidy ? Are wall frames used more in large corporations ?It is certainly easier using patch panels on the racks as you dont need special tools and can re-patch faster and with less complexity.

Hi,

Not sure exactly what you mean by wall frames, but most organizations use patch panels in the floor closet to patch end devices. You simply patch from the patch panel to the switch and do the same at the end device (patch from the device to the wall jack).
