I have a WS-C3560-24TS switch running Version 12.2(55)SE10. I want to upgrade my IOS but do not have enough room in flash for the c3750-ipservicesk9-mz.122-55.SE10.bin file. Looking at my flash I have this file which I'm not entirely sure what it is: c3750-dmon-mz-122-25r.SEC. It's taking up about 544 Kb, which won't actually help my cause, but I'd still like to get rid of it if it is unnecessary. What little information I could find for it online suggests that it is a file for Cisco Stardust, which may possibly be a diagnostics tool used by Cisco engineers during testing before the product is shipped out. If that is the case then I was thinking that they may have accidentally forgot to delete it. My switch isn't booting from this file, but I can't determine if the switch is actively using it.
Does anyone know what c3750-dmon-mz-122-25r.SEC is and if I can safely delete it?
This is the output from sho flash and sho boot:

It seems to be some sort of internal test / debug tool, and most likely safely deleteable - I found here what happens if you use it to boot the switch:

Thanks, Iulian, I did see that Reddit post, which is pretty much all I could find on the subject of the file. I was just hoping someone on here might have some familiarity with Cisco Stardust before I go deleting the file. It does seem to be some diagnostic tool, though.

You can delete that file , it does not need to be there . If that still doesn't give you enough room then you will have to delete the directory with the current IOS in it too . Just "DO NOT" power off the unit until you get the new image on and the boot statement changed .
