I need to Upgrade a few cisco 4506-E and the current Bootflash is: cat4500es8-universalk9.SPA.03.08.05a.E.152-4.E5a.bin.   I need to upgrade all these devices to:  cat4500es8-universalk9.SPA.03.11.02.E.152-7.E2.bin.    Will I be able to upgrade or so I need to go to a lower flash like:  cat4500es8-universalk9.SPA.03.08.06.E.152-4.E6.bin in order to scale it???

I appreciate any assistance.

Hi Gil

15.1(1r)SG6 is old and most likely is not going to work with the new IOS. So, upgrade to 15.1(1r)SG18 and you should be fine.

I am not sure if there is anything newer than 15.1(1r)SG18.

You can upgrade directly from 03.08.05a.E to 03.11.02.E.152-7.E2. Just make sure the current Rommon version is compatible with the new IOS.

Reza, thank you.   I will do that!

When you upgrade, make sure to have someone onsite with console access in case something goes wrong.

Good Luck!
