Can I use C9400-LC-24XS (as a replacement for WS-X4712-SFP+E) with WS-C4506-E?

Cisco announced C9400-LC-24XS as a replacement option for WS-X4712-SFP+E. WS-C4506-E is running WS-X45-SUP7-E and I will configure Trustsec on WS-C4506-E. Can I use C9400-LC-24XS (as a replacement for WS-X4712-SFP+E) with WS-C4506-E? If yes, then how many C9400-LC-24XS can I use in WS-C4506-E chassis?

No because it won't fit.

If thats the case then how Cisco announce C9400-LC-24XS as a replacement for WS-X4712-SFP+E? Am I missing something here?

Hello @sachin7 ,

you cannot replace a linecard WS-X4712-SFP+E in a WS-C4506-E chassis with a module of a different generation, the supervisor would not be able to manage it and if it would fit it would end up in power down shutdown .

Hope to help

Giuseppe

This means there is a new module that replaces the old one but that new module can only be inserted in the new chassis model. Another word, this statement does not mean you can put the new module in the old chassis.
