hi:

i would like to know if i can use "show ip protocol"to see if router is running load balance?

i.e below is the "show ip protocol"output

Routing Protocol is "eigrp  10 "
Outgoing update filter list for all interfaces is not set
Incoming update filter list for all interfaces is not set
Default networks flagged in outgoing updates
Default networks accepted from incoming updates
  EIGRP metric weight K1=1, K2=0, K3=1, K4=0, K5=0
  EIGRP maximum hopcount 100
  EIGRP maximum metric variance 1
Redistributing: eigrp 10
Automatic network summarization is in effect
  Automatic address summarization:
    4.0.0.0/8 for FastEthernet0/0, FastEthernet1/0
      Summarizing with metric 128256
  Maximum path: 4
  Routing for Networks:
     0.0.0.0
  Routing Information Sources:
    Gateway         Distance      Last Update
    1.1.1.2         90            920639
    2.2.2.2         90            920639
  Distance: internal 90 external 170

can i find any information about load balance here???

thanks

Hi,

The only information this output tells you  is that you're running EIGRP and that the maximum path on which it could load-balance is 4 and that the variance is 1 so no unequal-cost load-balancing is possible.

Now you need the output of sh ip route to see if there were 2 paths or up to 4 in this case(default)  with same metric that were installed to load-balance on these links.

Regards.
